Department of Mathematical Methods and Models UPB

ABOUT US

The Department of Mathematical Methods and Models, formerly known as the Department of Mathematics 2, provides fundamentals in mathematics to students majoring in engineering fields at the Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages and Faculty of Entrepreneurship, Business Engineering and Management. The teaching process is carried out within accredited study programmes for undergraduate and graduate students and covers a wide range of topics. The course titles are shown in the Education list.

The department members are engaged in research activities in pure and applied mathematics. Their domains of interest can be found in the Research list. The department's scientific seminar brings together people from across many areas and develops active collaboration in promoting interdisciplinary research.

SEEMOUS 2024

Gold and silver medals for POLITEHNICA Bucharest students
The POLITEHNICA Bucharest students participating in the XVIIIth South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad SEEMOUS 2024 (9 - 14 april 2024, Iaşi, România) have won three gold medals and three silver medals. More information here.

Elections for the Department of Mathematical Methods and Models

Regulations

On Tuesday, the 27th of February 2024, at 12:00, the election meeting will take place at the Department (room AN205). During this meeting, the following positions will be elected:

Director of the Department
Department Council (composed of the Department Director and four members)
Department representatives in the Faculty Councils: Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology; Faculty of Automatic Control and Computers; Faculty of Applied Sciences
Department representatives in the Senate (two representatives: the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the Department Director)

Registration of candidates for the position of Director of the Department proceeds as follows:

The application is registered at the UNSTPB Registry Office
The application is submitted to the Department Secretary (room AN206). Deadline: Wednesday, the 21st of February 2024, at 14:00 (3 working days before the election date). The submitted applications are confidential until deadline, after which these will become public, will be posted on the Department's website and also will be available at the Department.

Silver and bronze medals for UPB students
The UPB students participating in the XVth South Eastern European Mathematical Olympiad SEEMOUS 2021 (Agros, Cyprus, 19-24 July 2021) have won two silver medal and one bronze medal. More info here.
